A converter station among green hills in eastern China on a humid September night, cold white light from LED floodlight masts on wet grey gravel, between two high bare concrete fire walls a huge converter transformer, a long light grey steel tank, at one end a tall bank of grey cooler panels with round fans, on top a large horizontal cylindrical oil tank, two very long grey bushings running out at a shallow angle into the grey steel cladding of a tall windowless valve hall, every surface plain and unmarked, a technician in blue overalls and a plain white hard hat seen from directly behind, small at the foot of the tank.
