The concrete deck of a rocket launch pad in Florida on a bright November morning, behind, a tall straight rocket standing upright, one single straight wingless column of white and bare silver from its cluster of engine bells at the base up out of the frame, an orange-red steel lattice tower beside it, every surface plain and unmarked, in the centre the man, a man of forty-six, reddish-brown hair, dark navy suit, a grey hat in his hand, face turned up in three-quarter view, at his side a second man in a plain dark suit with his back to the camera, pointing upward.
