A bare transmitter room at a radio station on the eastern edge of Berlin at dusk in autumn, green linoleum floor, a tall light-grey steel cabinet one metre eighty high, at the top left a compartment behind wire mesh with two large transmitting valves glowing orange and a small plain yellow enamel plate with a red zigzag, at the top right three round meters with blank dials and plain marks, needles swung over, below two black handwheels, in the middle an olive-green panel with red and black buttons and an amber lamp, a hand in a blue work jacket sleeve on a handwheel, through the window a lattice mast in mist.
