A tall slender television tower of grey-white concrete in Berlin on a clear cold October morning, seen across the calm grey water of the river Spree, low sun from the east, high on the tapering shaft a large silver sphere of many small polished steel facets with a dark band of windows around it, the low sun striking the facets in a single bright cross-shaped glint of reflected light, above the sphere a red and white striped antenna mast with small platforms, its foot hidden behind bare autumn trees, small in the foreground a brick church with a slim green copper spire, pale blue sky, every facade and roof bare and plain.
