A Dutch NS 3700 locomotive, a single 4-6-0 tender engine: a four-wheel leading bogie in front, three large coupled driving wheels on each side, a Belpaire firebox with flat-topped sides in front of the cab, its tender on its own axles coupled behind, only one locomotive in the whole image, running on a single track that crosses a low bridge over a canal, the rails lying on top of the bridge deck and nothing but water passing beneath the bridge, polder landscape stretching flat to the horizon, windmill silhouette far off.
