A windowless concrete treatment room of a private hospital in Stockholm on a winter afternoon, a single lamp low at one side grazing every surface, in a scuffed cream-white painted steel cradle a tilted hemisphere of matt brown-grey steel half a metre across, densely studded with about two hundred round bushings, each with a small hole at its centre, around its rim a flange with bolts and a side bearing axle, behind it the dark round opening of a massive steel housing, a hand in a white coat sleeve tightening a bolt on the flange, the foot of an empty narrow couch with a smooth white sheet, long raking shadows from every bushing.
