The Sliding Square

The wooden porch of a summer house on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in late afternoon, golden sun from the side, on a weathered table an unfolded instant camera eighteen centimetres long, brushed pale stainless steel with light-brown leather on the viewfinder housing and the lid, a round lens ring, a red shutter button, two small knurled wheels on top, a plain dark flap below the lens, a black folding bellows in a triangle at its side, a dark square picture with a white border sliding out of the slot at its front, a hand holding a second picture by its white border, its square pale blue-green, a glass of lemonade soft behind.
