The Middle Slot

The planning office of a textile works in Thuringia on a spring afternoon, warm sun through white net curtains, on a veneer desk a low office computer sixty-seven centimetres wide, its front olive brown, its sides cream-white, a light grey metal top, at the left a greenish-grey screen in a brown rounded frame glowing with soft blurred rows, in the middle a small blank plate and a key lock, at the right three black floppy disk slots one above another, before it a flat keyboard in a cream-white tray with black keys, every key blank, every surface plain and unmarked, a hand sliding a floppy disk into the middle slot.
