The assembly hall of an aircraft works near Bremen on a winter morning, cold white light from high windows, a small motorless rotor kite standing on two long skids, a slender frame of two pale grey-blue steel tubes in an inverted T, a small panel of three round blank dials with plain marks, a simple seat with an olive canvas back and straps, a control stick hanging from the rotor head, above it three broad pale rotor blades held level by taut bracing wires, at the rear an open lattice boom with a large fabric-covered fin, beside it on trestles two long grey steel storage tubes, a worker's hands tightening one wire.
